Mayor Carey has been a member of Robbins Hose Co. No. 1, for 47 years. He has served as Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Fire Chief, Vice President and President. He also served on the Board of Directors for several years.

Mayor Carey is a native resident of the City of Dover. Mayor Carey as been married to his wife, Blanche for 44 years; together they have two children: Carleton Carey, Jr., and David Carey. He was employed and retired from Chesapeake Utilities Corporation after 25 years of service in the Marketing Department and Sales Development. He has been in sales and marketing now for 44 years.
