2010 Concerts On The Green

The 34th Annual Spring & Summer Concert Series on Dover’s historic Green has concluded for the season.

24th Annual Amish Country Bike Tour

Do you want to be a part of Delaware's largest cycling event?  Then join 1,200+ cyclists at the 24th Annual Amish Country Bike Tour set for Saturday, September 11. 

If you register online before August 25, the cost is $35 per adult, a savings of $40.  With registration, you will receive a bike tour map, goodie bag, up to four food stops including the famous "pie stop" at the Amish schoolhouse with home-baked pies and cookies, a delicious barbecue meal and an after-tour party on Legislative Mall with music provided by a local favorite, The Todd Stonesifer Band.  Performing at the Amish School House will be Celtic Harvest, and folk guitarist,Sandy Shalk.

 

Registering by August 25 makes the tour an excellent value!   

Here are some bike tour tidbits:

-       Blessing of the Bikes ceremony at 8 a.m. to commenorate 9-11.

-       15, 25, 50, 62 or 100 mile loops

-       25-mile competitive race

-       Flatlands cycling through scenic Amish countryside

-       Hob-knob with our Amish friends at the school house

-        Kick back and relax after the ride with a catered meal and live  

   music...enjoy the band and play some yard games!

CAROLLING ON THE GREEN

The City of Dover and the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce invite you, your family and friends to the Annual Carolling On The Green, on Wednesday, December 8, at 7:00 p.m. 

Sing the songs of the season with our special guests from the community, county and state. Revel in the holiday spirit on Dover's historic Green. This is one event you will not want to miss!

As part of our holiday food drive, we will be collecting non-perishable food donations that will be distributed to local food banks. Trucks will be at The Green to collect donations.

FIRST NIGHT DOVER 2011

First Night Dover is a New Year's Eve celebration of the arts that takes place in downtown Dover on December 31.

The First Night festivities begin with children's activities, followed by the 6:00 Family Fireworks show that takes place on Legislative Mall followed by our evening activities. 

Join your family, friends and neighbors to ring in the New Year!  Enjoy the various artists, music and activities that are planned for the whole family.  End the evening with the traditional ball drop and fireworks on Legislative Mall.

This alcohol free event is fun for everyone!

Old Dover Days - 78th Annual

History was never this much FUN!

May 6, 7 & 8

 

Held throughout the Historic District of Dover, and surrounded by Colonial and Victorian homes, Dover Days celebrates our unique history as the Capitol of the First State.  On May 6,7 & 8, history comes alive with maypole dancing, Colonial craft demonstrations, walking tours, parade, craft fair, and lots of food.  While activities are spread throughout the city, most take place on the beautiful, park-like grounds of Dover's Capitol Complex, The Green and Legislative Mall.
