The Dover Police Department Motorcycle Section, falls under the command of the Special Enforcement Unit. The Motorcycle Section consists of 5 officers who are supervised by a Sergeant. Each member has successfully completed an 80-hour basic Police Motorcycle Operator's Course. The course is designed to develop the officer’s riding abilities and skill level to deal with the demands of patrol riding. The Motorcycle Section has a primary function of enforcing traffic laws. The section fulfills its mission by conducting mainly stationary patrol and uses the latest laser technology for speed detection and enforcement. The motorcycle section is also responsible for funeral escorts, parades, special event traffic control, VIP escorts, and road race events.
