Sex Offender Search

The Sex Offender Enforcement Section is comprised of two police officers who are tasked with the verification of all registered sex offenders that reside, work or study within the city limits if Dover.  Officers contact residences, place of employment and schools to verify that they are indeed complying with the requirements of Megan’s Law as set forth by the State of Delaware.  These officers also notify the citizens of Dover when a new sex offender registers in the city limits as well.  This requires notifying pre-schools, daycare facilities, and schools by email and hand delivered mail.  In certain cases the officers will hand out information door to door.  Officers are required to re-verify all Tier III Sex Offenders 4 times a year, Tier II Sex Offenders twice a year, Tier I Sex Offenders once a year.

Citizens are encouraged to visit the Delaware Sex Offender Registry and the National Sex Offender Registry for additional information concerning current sex offenders in the City of Dover.

Citizens can also receive information from Crimeweb.net which is a free website that provides sex offender notification posters to members that are registered to their website.
