The City of Dover Tax Assessor Office is located in Weyant Hall at 5 East Reed Street on the corner of S. State St. and Reed St.

In general,
this department discovers, list, and appraises all real property in the city.
It is responsible for the following tasks: - Accounts for each parcel of
real property within the City of Dover.
- Maintains an in-depth property record
card for each parcel including the name and mailing address of the legal owner
and the current assessment.
- Up-dates all changes in property ownership.
- Values
all land subdivisions upon recording and development.
- Monitors all building
permit activity for physical changes to properties that could affect value and
recalculates assessed value for parcels changed.
- Causes to be prepared and
published, as of May 1, a complete and up-to-date assessment roll of all taxable
property in the city.
- Conducts in-house assessment
updates of all city properties as directed by Council.
- Collects, records,
and enforces the City of Dover Realty Transfer Tax.
