Special Committees

MEDIA/PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
The Media/Public Relations Committee is responsible for publicizing all programs and activities through communication channels. The committee prepares and sends press releases to the local newspaper editors, and radio and television station managers. The committee disseminates information to community organizations and prepares correspondence in response to inquiries and complaints. The committee submits a copy of all releases and correspondence to the Commission and to the City Clerk.

The committee submits a written and oral report to the Commission of all activities at the regular monthly meeting.

INTAKE SCREENING COMMITTEE
The Intake Screening Committee is responsible for receiving and screening all complaints. The committee makes recommendations to the Commission at a special called meeting or the regular monthly meeting. The presentation to the Commission includes a determination of jurisdiction, referral, or preliminary resolution. The committee submits copies of complaints to commissioners at least two days before called or regular meeting. The City Clerk is notified of all proceedings.

The committee submits a written and oral report to the Commission of all activities at the regular monthly meeting.

EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The Education and Development Committee is responsible for providing educational materials and development programs for commissioners. The committee focuses on diversity training, problem-solving, conflict resolution, parliamentary procedures, and other initiatives. Lectures, role-play, and reading materials are used. The committee schedules programs or distributes materials at least 30 days prior to presentation or discussion.

The committee submits a written and oral report to the Commission of all activities at the regular monthly meeting.

NOTES:
ARTICLE 1 Section 2 ...The Chairperson shall be a member of all committees of the Commission, ex officio.

ARTICLE 3 Section 3 ...The Vice-Chairperson shall be a member of all standing and special committees of the Commission, ex officio.
