Silver Lake Draw Down
Published on Oct 09, 2017 at 07:54a.m.
The City of Dover with a recommendation from the Silver Lake Commission will be preforming a draw down of Silver Lake beginning Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 20, 2017. All efforts will be put forth to ensure the fish and other water species are not harmed in any manner during this short draw down period.
This is a scheduled draw down and the city wants to make residents aware as not to cause alarm should they notice the lake water level changing. This will be an opportunity for lakeside residents to clean up debris and other items on their property. A contractor will be on site for Silver Lake dam maintenance work, which includes the boat ramp area. Licensed boaters should be on notice the boat ramp will be temporarily closed during this period.
The draw down is weather dependent. In that, if we have periods of precipitation during the time of the draw down, it is likely the water level will not have notable change.
Please look for our Clean-Up events which are planned throughout the year. In addition to cleaning up around the park area, we are considering lake awareness activities such as a flotilla event, kayak-canoe tours, educational displays, and more. Please contact Carolyn Courtney at email@example.com if you are interested in these activities.
The Silver Lake Commission is committed to improving Silver Lake Park and Lake waterways, this is just one of many steps that are taken throughout the year to support that commitment.
