Biographical Information
Slavin was sworn in as the At-Large Councilman for the City on May 13, 2013. Slavin had previously served on City Council from 2004-2010. During that time, he served in a variety of capacities, including chair of the Legislative, Finance, and Administration Committee; chair of the ad hoc Sex Offender Committee; and chair of the ad hoc Services to Seniors Committee.
Slavin holds degrees from Providence College (B.A. 1984) and the University of Notre Dame (M.A. 1986). He currently serves as the Director of the Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs for the State of Delaware, a position he has held since 2004. He has previously served as the State Archivist for two states, Delaware (2000-2004) and Rhode Island (1989-1995). He has co-authored two books on Delaware history, as well as numerous articles in newspapers, magazines, and journals.
Slavin lives in Old Dover with his wife, Ami Leaming, and their five children.
