Job Description:

The City of Dover is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Motor Equipment Operator II – Grounds Division in the Parks and Recreation Department. The primary duties of this position are to assist in performing a variety of mowing, landscaping, tree maintenance, flower bed maintenance and facility maintenance at the City’s 240 acres of property along with other assigned duties.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
  • Perform such duties as mowing grass, trimming and remove vegetation, trim trees, mulching, pulling weeds, blowing leaves, perform yard repairs, and plant and maintain flower beds.
  • Inspect motor equipment daily and perform minor maintenance; complete job-related logs and forms and assist in providing information to the public.
  • This position is classified as essential personnel that will be required to assist with weather emergencies such as but not limited to snowstorms.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or a GED with one (1) year of related experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDL permit within three (3) months and a CDL license within six (6) months of employment.
  • A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical associated with CDL is required along with a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Pesticide application license with ornamental turf & right-of-way endorsement or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
