  Biographical Information

“Experienced & Committed to the Residents of Dover and the 4th District”

Dr. Roy Sudler, Jr., a Hybrid, Servant, and Transformational Leader exemplifies putting his interests last and his constituents' interests first. He is ardent about social and civil equality for all Citizens. He has many years of knowledge in his professional network and has been noted for exceptional community leadership, political accomplishments, and love for all humanity in his discipline.

With nearly 25 years of experience and commitment to his credit,

Dr. Sudler recently (2021-2023) excelled as the first Native, African, and German American to become the Council President and Vice-Mayor of the Capital of Delaware in over 306 years of establishing the City of Dover, Delaware. He is the CEO of the Apartments at Mishoe Cove, LLC, an Independent Living Facility for Seniors, Handicapped, and Veterans for over 22 years, and the Owner of Sudler and Mishoe General Contracting Builders, LLC., and Sudler Wings and Things Seasoning (SWAT) while serving as the district 4 Councilman for the City of Dover, Delaware.

How did Dr. Sudler get involved as a Community Leader?

Dr. Sudler had been distressed about his community since he returned from attending Morris Brown College (HBCU) in Atlanta, Georgia. He encountered multiple challenges in which he was falsely accused of shoplifting, arrested, and unfairly treated in the pursuit of justice. Indeed, he has his own story to tell. The events, as previously mentioned above, encouraged him to get involved. He was between the ages of 26 to 27 when he was going through a lot of challenges as a young African American male. Instead of being furious, his brother Dr. Travis Mishoe Sudler I., encouraged him to get involved with the NAACP and positively do something about his sentiment towards Systemic Biases. After serving with the Local Delaware Central Branch NAACP from 2000-2003, The Honorable Reuben Salters (Former District 4 Councilman) asked him if he would consider sitting on this board and giving a young African American man's perspective on what is happening today. From there, he has been participating ever since.

During his career as a servant of the public’s interest, he has held numerous leadership positions such as

  • Former President of Dover City Council
  • Former Vice-Mayor of Dover Delaware
  • Former Chair: Dover Human Relations Commission (City of Dover)
  • Former 3rd Vice-President: NAACP State of Delaware Branch
