REGULAR MEETING

                                                                                                            October 11th, 1937

            The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 11th day of October, 1937. The meeting was called to order by mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Millman, Keith, Frear, Hinkle and Vane.

MINUTES

            Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear the reading of the minutes of the regular and special meetings was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

            The City Manager’s report for the month of September was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and LeFevre.

            Upon Motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, Council authorized the City Manager and the mayor to purchase 1,000 feet of 2 ½” fire hose for the Robbins Hose Company.

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Hinkle, the City Manager was instructed to secure plans, specifications and prices for a new 2500 KW turbine from the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company; also, to get the approximate date when same could be delivered to the City of Dover if the order was placed within 30 days.

FINANCIAL REPORT

            The financial report for the month of September was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle. Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Vane, the City Manager was authorized to pay $15,000 on the incinerator bond at the Farmers Bank.

POLICE REPORT

            The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Vane and Keith.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

            The Alderman’s report for the month of September was read by the Clerk and accepted by Messrs. Keith and Hinkle. A check amounting to $153 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 21 arrests.

COMMITTEES

            The senior class of Dover High School attended Council in a body and had quite an interesting discussion pertaining to the activities of the City government.

REPORT OF THE SECRETARY OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH

            The semi-annual report of the Secretary of the Board of Health was read by the Clerk upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear and ordered filed, and the salary of the Secretary for the past six months amounting to $50.00 was ordered paid.

RESOLUTION

            The resolution of the Dover Garden Club was read by the Clerk and upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Keith, the Mayor was instructed to acknowledge the resolution , thanking the Garden Club for their interest in civic affairs.

PETITION

            A petition to Council signed by Mrs. Mary S. Martin was read by the Clerk asking that the City officials do something to rid her of a nuisance caused by pigeons destroying her property. The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge this petition and advise Mrs. Martin that the City would make an investigation to see if some legal steps could be taken in order to dispose of this nuisance.

ADJOURNMENT

            Council adjourned at 9:15 P. M.
