REGULAR MEETING

                                                                                                            July 12th, 1937

            The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dove was held on the 12th day of July, 1937. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Millman, Downes, Burton, Frear, Hinkle and Vane.

MINUTES

            Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Frear, the reading of the minutes of the last regular meeting was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

            The City Manager’s report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs Millman and Frear.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Frear, the City Manager was authorized to serve notice on all property owners within the City to replace or repair sidewalks which are in bad condition.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton, the City Manager was instructed to write a letter to Mr. George M. Schwartz instructing him to repair or remove the buildings on his properties along Loockerman Street within the next thirty days.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle, the City Council voted that no permits shall be granted for moving of buildings on the streets of over except by special order from the City Council.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Vane, the City Manager was authorized to remove the dead elm tree from the center of the street on the Dover Green.

FINANCIAL REPORT

            The financial report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Frear and Hinkle, the City Clerk was instructed to draw an order on the treasury for $5,000 in payment on the $30,000 incinerator and disposal plant note.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

            The Alderman’s report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Vane. A check amounting to $116.50 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 16 arrests.

POLICE REPORT

            The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton.

COMMITTEES

            Mr. Robert Densten appeared before Council in behalf of the Robbins Hose Company asking that the Council cooperate with the chiefs of the department in requesting that the fire apparatus not be taken out of town to participate in parades. After some discussion, Council decided that the Mayor should write the Robbins Hose Company that the City does not feel that this equipment should be taken out of town for parades, but no final decision was made until after they hear the reaction of the members of the company.

LIGHTING SILVER LAKE BRIDGE

            Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton, the City Manager was instructed to present a proposition to the highway Department that they furnish lights for the Silver Lake causeway and the City furnish the current for lighting the same free of charge.

ADJOURNMENT

            Council adjourned at 8:20 P. M.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

            A committee appeared before Council asking that their option on the land east of the City Hall for the purpose of building a new modern hotel be renewed for an addition 90 days. Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Frear, this option was renewed for 90 days from the date of this meeting.
