REGULAR MEETING
December 14th, 1936
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 14th day of December, 1936. The meeting was called to order by Vice-Mayor Frear and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs, Downes, Keith, LeFevre, Burton, Millman, Hinkle and Vane.
MINUTES
Upon motion of Messrs. Millman and Vane, the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meeting was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes.
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Downes, the City Manager was authorized to purchase and install new automatic coal feeders to the boilers at the electric plant.
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, the City Manager was instructed to take up the mattr of a smoke nuisance with the proper authorities of the Diamond State Dairies, Incorporated, and to instruct them that this nuisance must be stopped immediately.
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, Council voted that the Mayor appoint a committee to study the parking situation on Loockerman Street and report at the next meeting with recommendation. The following committee was appointed by Vice-Mayor Frear: Mayor Woodford, Harry Vane and Jesse S. Burton.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s report for the month of November was read by the Clerk and acepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton. A check in the amount of $36.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of eight arrest.
POLICE REPORT
The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton.
EXTENSION OF WATER MAIN
An application was read before Council to extend the water main along the Hazlettville Road to the City line and to install a fire plug at that point. This application was made by Mr. Walker Mifflin in order to secure fire protection on his farm. The City Manager reported that this extension would cost approximately $700.00. Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton, Council voted to table this application until a later date.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE
Vice-Mayor Frear appointed the following committee to interview the owners of Doer Flour Mills property regarding the purchase of same and to report price and terms at the next meeting: Messrs. LeFevre, Burton, and City Solicitor Hopkins.
