REGULAR MEETING

                                                                                                                        July 13th, 1936

            The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 13th day of July, 1936. The meeting was called to order by Mayor J. Wallace Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Downes, Millman, Frear, Burton, Hinkle and Vane.

MINUTES

            Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Burton, the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meetings was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

            The City Manager’s report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. hinkle and Vane.

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, the City Manager was authorized to purchase the new Garbage Getter to be used in connection with the new incinerator.

            Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and LeFevre, the City Manager was authorized to install sewers at Lakewood Gardens with the understanding that Mr. Jarvis is to pay for one-half of the cost.

CONTRACT FOR PRINTING NEW ORDINANCE BOOK

            Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Hinkle, the committee on revamping the City ordinances was authorized to award the contract for printing same to the Capital Printing Company, Dover who was the low bidder at a price of $1.24 per page.

BUILDING PERMIT

            Upon motion of Messrs. Millman and LeFevre, the building commission was authorized to issue a building permit to Minnie J. Williams for building a 16-car garage back of her property on South State Street, providing the adjacent property owners do not object to this permit.

FINANCIAL REPORT

            The financial report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

            The Alderman’s report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Vane. A check for $165.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 12 arrests.

POLICE REPORT

            The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton.

 

 

DEDICATION OF NEW INCINERATOR AND SEWERAGE DISPOSAL PLANT

            Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, Mayor Woodford was authorized to arrange for the opening exercises for the new incinerator and sewerage disposal plant to be held on Thursday, July 23rd, the plant to be open for public inspection between the hours of 9 A.M. and 5 P. M. and the Mayor being given the power to act.

PETITION

            A petition signed by 34 property owners in the community of the Harmon Oil Company bulk station petitioned Council to compell Mr. Harmon to build a fence around his property and install the necessary fire prevention dikes around his fuel storage tanks. City Solicitor Hopkins was instructed to notify Mr. Harmon that his work must be done within 10 days or the building permit would be recinded.

ADJOURNMENT

            Council adjourned at 9:15 P. M.
