REGULAR MEETING

January 13th, 1936

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 13th day of January, 1936. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Millman, Keith, Frear, Hinkle and Vane.

MINUTES

Upon motion of Messrs. Millman and Keith, the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meetings was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

The City Manager’s report for the month of December was read by the Clerk and accepted as read upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle.

POLICE REPORT

The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Frear.

ALDERMAN’S REPORT

The Alderman’s report for the month of December was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle. A check amounting to $14 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of three arrests.

FINANCIAL REPORT

The financial report for the month of December was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear.

PETITION

A petition was presented to Council by the property owners on pine Street requesting the City to pave Pine Street with hard surface material with the understanding that the cost ot the property owners would not exceed 50¢ per front foot. Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Keith, Council voted that this petition be received and that the City Solicitor be instructed to prepare the necessary papers for the property owners to sign.

DONATION

Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and LeFevre, the City Council instructed the City Clerk to draw an order for $10 payable to Robert O. Hayes, Supt. of Co. 1295, CCC Camp, Magnolia, Delaware, to be used for recreational purposes.

ANNUAL REPORT OF THE FIRE CHIEF

Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, the annual report of the Chief of the Robbins Hose Company was accepted as read and ordered filed.

Mayor Woodford appointed Messrs. LeFevre, Hinkle and Vane to act as a committee to examine the recommendations which the Fire Chief’s report contains and submit proper recommendations to Council at their next regular meeting.

ELECTION BOARD

Mayor Woodford appointed messrs. Millman and Frear to serve on the Election Board for the City election Monday, January 20th, from 1 P. M. to 4 P. M.

LETTERS

Letters from the Director of Musical instruction and the Supt. of Dover Special Schol District were read, expressing their appreciation for the financial aid given by the City to the high School Band. These letters were accepted and ordered filed.

Council adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
