REGULAR MEETING

October 13, 1930

The meeting was called to order by President Woodford at 7:30 P.M. with the following members present: Messrs. Frear, Clarke, Clements, Keith, LeFevere, Hinkle, & Downes.

MINUTES

Upon motion of Messrs. Frear & Keith the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meeting was dispensed with.

CITY MANAGER’S REPORT

The attached report of the City Manager was accepted, ordered placed in the minutes, and filed upon motion of Messrs. Clements & Frear. Upon motion of Messrs. Frear & Keith the Council instructed the City Manager to charge the property owners on Governors Ave. two thousand dollars ($2000.00) for the stone used in building shoulders, said stone being same as that which was taken from the excavation of street.

THE ALDERMAN’S REPORT

The Alderman’s report for the month of September and fines collected amounting to $163.00 with 36 arrests, check for same being turned over to the City Manager. Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle & Frear this report was ordered accepted and filed.

POLICE REPORT

Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle & Clarke the report of the police was accepted as read by the Clerk.

TREASURERS REPORT

Upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle & Clarke the following report of the Treasurer, after being read by the Clerk, was accepted, ordered placed in the minutes, and filed.

COMMITTEES

A letter addressed to the Council signed by Mr. M. S. Griffith was read by the Clerk asking the Council to notify property owners between his property and the last sidewalks to lay sidewalks connecting his property. Upon motion of Messrs. Downes & LeFevere the City Manager was authorized to advertise for a sidewalks to be laid where needed within the city limits.

Mr. George Milbourne appeared before Council complaining about trucks running into property and damaging same on Minor St. the cause being of the storing of furniture along the side of Nap Furniture Store. The same complaint was turned over to the police with instructions to see parties concerned and ask them to cooperate in preventing further damage.

Mr. Hill appeared before Council regarding halloween celebration by the American Legion. Upon motion of Messrs. Keith & LeFevere the Council instructed the Clerk to draw a check for one hundred dollars ($100.00) payable to Walter L. Fox Post c/o Jacob Ehrlich, treasurer.

NEW WATER SURVEY

Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevere & Clark the City Manager was given authority to make a survey of all water outlets within the jurisdiction of City.

INCREASE IN SALARY

The matter of an increase in salary for the Chief of Police was brought before Council by Mayor Woodford and after some discussion a motion was made by Messrs. LeFevere & Downes to increase Chief of Police’s salary from $40 to $45 per week. The vote went- -Frear, no; Clark, no; Clements, no; Keith, no; Hinkle, no; LeFevere, yes; Downes, yes.

BOARD OF HEALTH

The following report of the Board of Health, after being read by the Clerk, was accepted and ordered placed in the minutes, upon motion of Messrs. Keith & Frear. The expense account of $15.00 for the next six months and the salary of the Secretary of the Board of Health was ordered paid by the Clerk.

Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevere & Keith, Council adopted a resolution and instructed the City Clerk to send a copy of same to Mr. James M. Satterfield, solicitor.
