SPECIAL MEETING

May 11, 1926

The meeting was called to order at 11 A.M. by Acting President Clements, with the following members present: Messrs. Downes, LeFevre, Hinkle, Burton, and Clark.

The purpose of the meeting was for the consideration of the drilling of a new well, to be located at the Dover Light and Water Plant.

Propositions numbers 1 and 3 as submitted by The J. H. K. Shannahan Artesian Well Co., were accepted by Council upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Clark.

Following are the above named propositions:

Proposition #1

1. We will start with a 16" pipe to a depth of 50 to 60 feet, then continue with 12" pipe to a depth of not less than 160 ft.

2. We will install a 12" Cook all brass strainer not less than 18 ft. in length.

3. We will make a thorough test as to quantity.

4. We will furnish all material, labor and machinery necessary to complete the well.

5. You are to furnish transportation from the railroad to the site of the well and return on board care at your station; also, steam, water and air necessary to operate our outfit.

6. We have estimated the cost of the strainer at $400.00. Should it be less, we will deduct the difference; if more, you are to pay the difference.

7. Upon the completion of the above, you are to pay us the sum of Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00).

It is our opinion that this well will give from five hundred (500) to seven hundred (700) G. P. M. with a deep well centrifugal pump.

Proposition #3

1. Upon the completion of Propositions #1, #2A, or #2B, we are to use our best efforts to pull the strainers that are in your three 8" wells and replace them with Cook strainers, for the sum of Twenty-Five Dollars ($25.00) per day for our outfit, plus cost of labor and material, plus ten per cent (10%), time to begin with the day we start moving on this work and to end with the day we finish dismantling the outfit.

2. You are to furnish steam, water and air.

Council acting upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Burton rescinded the motion passed at the last regular meeting of Council to banish all night parking on State Street, Bradford Street, Gov. Ave., and The Green.

There being no further business Council adjourned at 11:25 A.M.
