SPECIAL MEETING

May 15, 1925

A SPECIAL MEETING was held on May 15th, for the purpose of receiving Consulting Engineer Deery’s report and recommendations concerning award of contracts for generator and condensers.

The following members were present: Messrs. LeFevre, Downes, Keith, Burton, Clements, Frear, Hinkle and Clark.

Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, the reading of the minutes of the last meeting was dispensed with.

Mr. LeFevre read the report and recommendations of Mr. Deery with regard to award of contracts for turbine and condensers, his recommendation being that the contract for turbine be awarded to the General Electric Company and the contract for the condensers be awarded to the C. H. Wheeler Manufacturing Company.

Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Burton, the house was cleared with the exception of the Councilmen and representatives of the various companies who had placed bids were heard secretly.

After listening to the information submitted by these representatives, Council, upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Downes, adopted the following resolution: RESOLVED, that the report on and the tabulation of the bid for the installation of a turbine and condenser at the water and light plant, as submitted by Consulting Engineer W. J. Deery, be accepted, and that the President of the Council be authorized to execute contracts with the General Electric Company for the turbine and with the C. H. Wheeler Manufacturing Company for the condenser, after the contracts as offered have been approved by the City Solicitor, and that the water and light committee is authorized after the contracts have been executed to have Mr. Deery at once go ahead with the installations and prepare specifications for the other work necessary in these installations.

Council adjourned at 10:40, upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Clark.
