Dover, Delaware, April 18th, 1924.
Special Meeting.
At the call of the President the Council met in Special Session at 7 P.M. in the Town Office.
Members Present Messrs. LeFevre, Downes, Clements, Keith, Burton, Hancock and Clark.
Purpose of Meeting Employing Consulting Engineer.
After some discussions as to the advisability of the matter Council acting upon motion of Messrs Keith and Clements that the Council employ for the remainder of the year Mr. Walter J. Deery as consulting engineer at a salary of $500.00.
Extending Pennsylvania Avenue.
Mr. Keith brought the matter before Council the matter of buying the corner of the Derrickson property now owned by Mr. G. L. Gooden. Mr. Keiths idea being to extend Penna. Ave. to Kings St. and would thereby relieve the congestion of traffic to a great extent. Mr. Keith asked the Council to give the matter serious consideration.
Delaware Avenue Closed:
Council also agreed to let the East end of Dela. Ave. remain closed and to be used by the Murphey Home and The New Dover School as a play ground of athletic field provided however there were no buildings erected there on.
There being no further business Council adjourned at 7:23 P.M.
