REGULAR MEETING

November 12, 1956

The regular meeting of City Council was held Monday, November 12, 1956, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Biddle, Davis, Hayes, Holpp, Mundy, Petty, Tischer and Zartman.

MINUTES

Minutes of the recessed meeting of October 22 and its continuation October 29, 1956 were accepted as read.

REPORTS

Report of the Chief of Police for October was accepted as read.

Report of the City Alderman was accepted as read. Checks in the amount of $1336.75, 145.00 and $29.00 were remitted to the City. Report of the Acting Alderman Shockley was accepted as read. A check in the amount of $50.50 was remitted to the City.

Report of Fire Recorder for August and September were accepted as read.

Report of Cash Receipts for October was accepted as read.

HEARING COMMITTEE

Mayor Haman appointed to the Hearing Committee for the months of December, January and February Councilmen Holpp, Mundy and Zartman.

REPORT

Report of the City Manger was accepted as read.

TRASH DISPOSAL

On motion of Mr. Petty, seconded by Mr. David, Council approved an agreement with Frank Danner for use of a pit on his farm on the Bay Road for disposal of trash. The agreement is for a period of ten years at a cost of $300 per year. The City will construct ans maintain a road to the pit and erect fences around the pit area and across an entrance from adjoining property.

LATEX LINE

City Manager Ward reported a bid had been received from the firm of Hinkle and McCoy in the amount of $14,820 for construction of a 22 KV electric line along the railroad from North Street to the New Latex Plant. Cost of construction and substation installation will be paid by Latex who will be reimbursed at the rate of 10% of monthly power bills.

POLICEWOMAN

On motion of Mr. Davis, seconded by Mr. Biddle, Council authorized the employment of a policewoman to enforce the parking meter ordinance.

NORTH STREET HOUSE

Council discussed two houses on North Street to be demolished or removed for the Farmers Bank by Wallace Jones. Permit to demolish the houses had been granted to Mr. Jones who now desires to move one house to a location outside the City. The matter was left to the City Manager and Building Inspector who will determine the advisability of moving the house thru City streets and the possible route.

STATE STREET ALLEY

Council discussed the request of Erdle Television Shop to reconstruct a sidewalk in the State Street alley and the hazard of truck traffic to buildings on the alley.

POLICE CAR MAINTENANCE

On motion of Mr. Tischer, seconded by Mr. Petty, Council authorized completion of an agreement with Holden & Mundy for maintenance of Police cars. Bids had been requested, but only one was received.
