SPECIAL MEETING
May 31, 1955
A special meeting of City Council was held Tuesday, May 31, 1955, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs. Biddle, Davis, Helm, Holpp, Petty, Tischer and Zartman.
PIPING CONTRACT
On the recommendation of A.C. Wood Associates, Consulting Engineers, Council awarded the contract for piping work at the Dover Power Plant to Charles M. Brown Co. on their low bid of $44,400.
D P & L CONTRACT
Council discussed negotiations with Delaware Power & Light Co. over the conditions of a new contract under which Dover will purchase power. Discussions will be continued.
RODNEY VILLAGE
City Manager Ward reported that franchises had been prepared for water and sewer lines to be run to Rodney Village Development.
WATER TOWER
City Manager Ward reported that bids had been received for the furnishing and erection of a 250,000 gallon water tank, less foundation, as follows:
Pittsburgh-Des Moines Co. $46,150
Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. 47,450
Council discussed the details of the bid and the possible erection of a larger tank. On motion of Mr. Zartman, seconded by Mr. Holpp, Council awarded the contract to the low bidder, Pittsburgh-Des Moines Co. on their bid of $46,150. Council Petty voted No.
EDGEHILL ACRES WATER MAIN
Council directed that the financial details on the Edgehill Acres water main installed by Richter & Meyers and its dedication of a sewer main extension requested by those developers is negotiated.
SEWER INSTALLATION POLICY
Council directed that the policy of Dover for extension of sewer outside the City limits shall be that the developer shall install sewers according to size and other specifications of Dover, at no cost to Dover, and shall upon completion to the satisfaction of Dover convey ownership to Dover, with no privilege of recapturing any part of the cost.
CURBS
Council directed the City Solicitor to prepare an ordinance covering the installation of curbs within the City of Dover, providing specifications for their installation and providing further for their installation by the City with the cost thereof to be charged to property owners.
Council adjourned at 12 Midnight.
