SPECIAL MEETING
November 22, 1954
The special meeting of City Council was held Monday, November 22, 1954, at 7:30 P.M. with Vice-Mayor Tischer presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs. Biddle, Helm, Holpp, Mundy, Petty and Smith.
POLICE
Chief of Police Turner brought before and introduced to City Council members of the Police Force.
CAPITOL GREEN
City Manager Ward explained to City Council plans submitted bu Capitol Green for the erection of additional housing units, which would require City water, sewer and electrical facilities.
OUTTEN ACCOUNT
Council authorized removal from the records of a charge to E. Stuart Outten in the amount of $17.00 for brush and trash hauled in 1950.
USO SIGN
Council granted permission to the USO to erect a sign at its headquarters on King Street provided the ordinance of the City are complied with (Section 45, 1947 Building Code).
NORTH STREET SIDEWALK
J. Fenimore Wilson and Walker Mifflin appeared before Council to request that a sidewalk be installed on North Street between Queen and Slaughter Street and that plant growth be removed at the Methodist cemetery to permit better vision for motorists. The City Manager was directed to survey the area and report back to City Council.
AUDIT
William Manter, CPA, appeared before City Council to discuss the annual audit of City accounts for the years ending June 30, 1954 and to explain his recommendations.
RIGHTS-OF-WAY
City Manager Ward discussed with City Council the progress of his efforts to obtain street rights-of-way in various sections of the City.
CITY SOLICITOR
Council authorized a membership in the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers for the City Solicitor.
Council adjourned at 11:50 P.M.
