SPECIAL MEETING
April 5, 1954
A special meeting of City Council was held Monday, April 5, 1954, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Biddle, Davis, Helm, Holpp, Mundy, Petty and Tischer.
AIR BASE POWER
City Manager Ward outlined to City Council negotiations which had been carried on with Delaware Power & Light Company and the U.S. Air Force in regard to supplying power requirements of the Dover Air Base. He explained the agreement reached Thursday, April 1, 1954 in the offices of the Delaware Public Service Commission at which were present representatives of the Federal Power Commission, Delaware Public Service Commission, U.S. Air Force, Delaware Power & light Company and the City of Dover. In substance, Dover agreed to purchase from Delaware Power & Light Company, for a period of ten years, the power requirements of the Dover Air base at the Resale Power rate, and Dover Air Base agreed to purchase from Dover for a period of ten years its power requirements at the Resale Power rate, plus a markup of $533 to be added tot eh first 100 KW of demand. Delaware Power & Light Company agreed t sell to the City of Dover the 22 KV line between the St. Jones River and the Dover Air Base, and the metering installed on the Base, for the sum of $1.00. Delaware power & Light Company will meter the energy delivered to the City of Dover at a point on the west bank of the St. Jones River. Dover will meter energy delivered tot eh Dover Air Base at a point south of its main gate where metering and its substation is now installed. Council agrees to the completion of the necessary contracts, with Mr. Tischer voting No.
AIR BASE METERING
City Manager Ward reported that representative of Delaware Power 7 light Company had asked him today whether Dover would agree tot he installation of its metering at the Air Base substation instead of at Lebanon. Council directed that Delaware Power & Light Co. metering should be installed in accordance with the terms of the contract which it had just approved.
WATER STORAGE TANK
Council approved the completion of a contract with the Kessler Company for painting and repair of the water tank on Division Street, and the installation of a 6" overflow pipe and a tower light.
Council adjourned at 11:45 P.M.
