SPECIAL MEETING
September 22, 1952
The special meeting of City Council was held Monday, September 22, 1952, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Davis, Helm, Holpp, Mundy Petty, Smith and Tischer.
TRADER FUNERAL HOME
Council considered the request of Mr. Roland Trader to open a funeral home at 803 S. State Street. A petition was received from six property owners in the area who opposed the project, and a second petition signed by nine property owners who approved. Council, by unanimous vote, approved the request of Mr. Trader to open a funeral home at 803 S. State St.
REPUBLICAN STREET BANNER
John Lepore requested permission of City Council to erect a Republican campaign banner on South State Street near the Green. Council granted permission for a banner to be erected under the supervision of the City Manager, and in a manner and at a location approved by him.
HALLOWEEN PARADE
Council granted permission to the Junior Chamber of Commerce to hold a Halloween parade Thursday, October 30, 1952. The Mayor and Council were invited to ride in the parade.
CURB ORDINANCE
The City Solicitor was directed to prepare an ordinance requiring that curbs to installed before streets are hard surfaced.
BUILDING ORDINANCE
The City Manager, City Solicitor and other City employees were directed to prepare an amendment to the building ordinance containing changes that are deemed necessary, including the requirement of a release for the builder and the installation of sidewalk and curb, and to redraft the form of permit issued, in accordance with proposed changes to the existing ordinance.
ELECTRIC LINE EXTENSIONS
City Manager Ward reported to City Council on the meeting of the Utility Policy Committee which considered the problem of extending electric lines to real estate developments and a proposal that a cash deposit or performance bond be required to cover the estimated cost of electric line extensions.
