SPECIAL MEETING
February 27, 1952
A special meeting of City Council was held Wednesday, February 27, 1952, at 8:00 P.M. with Mayor Haman presiding. Councilmen present were Messrs Book, Davis, Helm, Holpp, Mundy Petty, Smith and Tischer.
CITY MANAGER APPOINTMENT
Council discussed various applications for the position of City Manager. The application of G. Preston Ward was accepted. Council authorized his employment as City Manager, effective March 1, 1952 at a salary of $6000 per year.
Council authorized payment os salary to O.B. Agner, resigned City Manager, thru March 31, 1952, and requested Mr. Agner to remain on the job in an advisory capacity until March 15, 1952.
RECREATION CENTER REPAIRS
Councilmen Davis, Smith and Mundy were appointed a committee too determine what repairs were required at the Dover Recreation Center and to report their recommendations to City Council.
QUARANTINE ON DOGS
Because of the outbreak of rabies in nearby areas, the City Solicitor was directed to take such steps as are necessary to quarantine dogs within the City of Dover.
RAILROAD CROSSINGS
The City Solicitor was directed to inform the Pennsylvania Railroad of the intention of the City to reduce the time during which street crossings are blocked by trains and to prosecute any failure to comply with the law in such instances.
