SPECIAL MEETING
December 1, 1950
A Special Meeting of City Council was held on Friday, December 1, 1950 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Storey presiding. Members present were Messrs. Behen, Carroll, Culver, Lofland, Petty, Smith and Wilson.
MINUTES
Reading minutes of previous meeting was dispensed with.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTING
The City Manager and City Clerk were directed to determine how Christmas lighting of streets is handled in towns south of Wilmington.
STREET LIGHTING
Council discussed the street lighting program and difficulties encountered in locating poles and running overhead lines. Council recognized the fact that underground cable is available for purchase and approved as a general policy the location of poles, lights and overhead lines as determined by City officials and the elimination, wherever possible, of street light lines running over private property.
TRAILERS
The City Clerk was directed to notify the owners or occupants of all trailers parked illegally within the City to remove the trailers within 30 days.
CITY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Council approved the general City improvement program as outlined by City Manager Agner and directed that the program be presented to the citizens for approval or disapproval.
