SPECIAL MEETING

May 29, 1950

A special meeting of City Council was held on Monday, May 29, 1950 at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Storey presiding. Members present were Messrs. Behen, Carroll, Culver, Lofland, Petty, Smith and Wilson.

REVIEWING STAND

Council authorized the expenditure of not to exceed $100.00 for the erection of a reviewing stand at Bradford and Loockerman Streets for the Chicken Festival Parade. Councilmen Petty and Smith were appointed a committee in charge of the project.

CITY MANAGER BROWN

Council directed that following the assumption of the duties of City Manager by Mr. O.B. Agner the services of Mr. Brown would be retained on a fee basis. Mr. Brown would be paid his customary business charge for services rendered the City. He will not be retained on a part time salary basis.

SPRAYER

Council authorized the City Manager to purchase the Lawrence L-80 AERO MIST Sprayer at a cost of approximately $2180 plus freight.

STREET SWEEPER

Council authorized the purchase of an Elgin 81 Street Sweeper. The City manager was directed to determine what terms of payment could be arranged.

NEW DUMP

The City Manager was directed to survey sites for the location of a City dump.

CONSULTING ENGINEERS

Employment of an engineering firm to survey site for the location of a City dump.

EMPLOYMENT OF ENGINEER

Council authorized the employment of Francis Erdle at a salary of $3000 per year beginning July 1, 1950.

LOTUS STREET SIDEWALK

Council directed that notwithstanding the provisions of Section 20, Chapter IX of the Ordinances of the City of Dover, the sidewalks on Lotus Street in the City of Dover shall not be less than four feet in width.

SLAUGHTER STREET SIDEWALKS

Council directed that sidewalks be laid on the west side of Slaughter Street between Loockerman and North Streets and that property owners be notified in accordance with the Charter of the City of Dover.

CHARLES LEGATES

Council directed that the City physician be requested to determine from hospital authorities the condition of Charles Legates. Council directed that flowers be wired to Mr. Legates and that a letter be written informing him that he will be retained on the City payroll until he is notified otherwise.

HOTEL RICHARDSON LIGHTS

Council directed that the management of the Hotel Richardson be notified to remove the lights installed on its State Street sign.
