SPECIAL MEETING

                                                                                                                        February 17, 1949

A special meeting of Council was convened at 7:45 P.M., Thursday, February 17, 1949, with Mayor Storey presiding. Members present were Messrs Behen, Carroll, Culver, Lofland, Petty, Smith and Wilson.

The subject of pay for the Mayor and members of Council was discussed.

Upon motion of Mr. Carroll, seconded by Mr. Smith, Council rescinded the action of its previous meeting tabling the matter of receiving electricity and water at their homes without charge until all members were present at a meeting.

Upon motion of Mr. Petty, seconded by Mr. Smith, Council directed the City Solicitor to prepare and present to the State Legislature a bill amending the City Charter to provide that members of Council be paid Ten Dollars ($10.00) for each and every meeting of Council attended, but providing that each member of Council is paid not more than One hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) in any one year.

Mr. Lofland voted Nay.

No action was taken providing pay for the office of Mayor.

Council adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
