SPECIAL MEETING

                                                                                                                        February 16, 1948

A special meeting of City Council was convened at 7:40 P.M. on February 16, 1948, with Mayor Willis presiding. Members present were Mrs. Frear and Messrs. Carson, Hartnett, Wright, Carroll, Culver and Wilson.

The City Manager was authorized to obtain bids on the Dover Ball Park for repair without alteration and with the left field fence moved back to allow enclosure of a regulation size football field.

The City Manager was authorized to advertise in local newspapers the application of John G. Willis to construct a service station at Division and American Avenues. Protests from residents within a one-block radius will be heard at the regular meeting of Council in March.

Discussion of salary rates for members of the Police Department was tabled for further inquiry by the Mayor.

Council approved a salary raise for Eugene Waters from $28.00 to $30.00 weekly.

General discussion was held on the operation of the various departments of the City.

Council authorized employment of such additional help as would be required to complete the tax assessment record and issue tax bills within the time limit prescribed by the City Charter.

Council adjourned at 9:45 P.M.
