SPECIAL MEETING
April 21, 1947
A special meeting of Council was held in City Hall on Monday evening, April 21, at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor Woodford presiding. The following members were present: Mrs. Frear, Messrs. Keith, Hartnett, Vane, Wright and Carson.
War Memorial Committee
The subject of the advisability of the City appointing a committee to be recognized as the official War Memorial Committee with the understanding that there would be no cost to the City was discussed. After some discussion, the Council decided to hold the decision over until the next meeting.
Tax Rate
After some discussion, in which it was brought out that the increase in the cost of materials over a three year period was from 17% to 75%. Upon motion of Mr. Hartnett, seconded by Mr. Carson, the tax rate for the year 1947 was set at $1.00, an increase of 10¢ over 1946.
Screens – City Owned Property
Without objection, the City Manager was authorized to have the property owned by the City now occupied by Jim Collins screened at a cost not to exceed $100.00.
