REGULAR MEETING
November 9th, 1942
The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 9th day of November, 1942. The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with Mayor Woodford presiding and on roll call the following members answered “Present”: Messrs. LeFevre, Millman, Burton, Hartnett, Vane and Hinkle.
MINUTES
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle, the reading of the Minutes of the last Regular Meeting was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of October was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report for the month of October was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Millman.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s report for the month of October was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hartnett. A check amounting to $155.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of nine arrests.
POLICE REPORT
The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hartnett.
A LETTER
A letter from Dr. S. James Krygier was read by the Clerk asking the City Council if they would sell a plot of ground west of the Equitable Insurance Building on the Plaza. The City Clerk was instructed to write Dr. Krygier that there is approximately a 75-foot frontage on the City Plaza and a depth of 150 feet, and they would consider selling it for the purpose of erecting a medical building, for a price of $6,500.00 and subject to approval by the City Council of the plans and specifications.
CONDEMNATION OF BUILDING
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Burton, the City Council instructed the City Solicitor to proceed to condemn the building located on Bank Lane, known as “the old brick church” and belonging to the Marshall Heirs, this building to be condemned as a dwelling because it has no sanitary facilities and is considered uninhabitable.
The City Clerk was instructed to serve notice on Mrs. E. V. Danner to remove the garage building in the rear of her property on North New Street, and also to send a notice to mrs. Bertha Thompson to remove the sheet metal garage in the rear of her property on North State Street.
TRANSPORTATION OF NURSERY SCHOOL CHILDREN
Upon motion of Messrs. LeFevre and Burton, the City Council authorized the City Manager to pay for the transportation of nursery School children to and from the nursery at a rate not to exceed $1.00 per day.
CITY SOLICITOR’S CONVENTION
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle, the City Council authorized the expenses of the City Solicitor to attend the Convention to be held in the Commodore Hotel, New York City, on December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
