REGULAR MEETING
April 13th, 1942
The Regular meeting fo the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 13th day of April, 1942. The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. with Vice-mayor LeFevre presiding, and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Keith, Downes, Millman, Burton, Hartnett, Vane and Hinkle.
MINUTES
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton, the reading of the Minutes of the last Regular Meeting was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of March was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle.
Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Keith, the City Manager was authorized to secure asphalt for the purpose of resurfacing and reconditioning the streets of Dover as recommended in his report.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report for the month of march was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s report for the month of march was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle. A check amounting $167.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 17 arrests.
POLICE REPORT
The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hartnett.
TAX RATE
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, the City tax rate for the year 1942 was set at 75¢ per $100.
TAX APPEALS
Upon motion of Messrs. Millman and Hinkle, the assessment of Mr. H. C. Gruwell for his property on Hazel Road was reduced from $6,000 to $5,000.
Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Burton, the Council voted to make no change in the assessment of Mr. Gove Ennis for his property located on North New Street.
Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Keith, Council reduced the assessment of the Ward Ice Cream Company from$3,000 to $2,500.
Upon motion of Messrs. Downes and Hartnett, the Council reduced the assessment of Dr. E. R. Steele from $7,000 to $6,000.
ANNUAL REPORT OF ROBBINS HOSE COMPANY
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Vane, the annual report of the Robbins Hose Company was accepted as read by Fire Chief Thomas E. Baker.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Millman, the City Council adjourned to meet again on Monday, April 20th, at 7:30 P. M.
