REGULAR MEETING
July 10th, 1939
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on July 10th, 1939. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Downes, LeFevre, Keith, Burton, Vane and Hinkle.
MINUTES
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, the reading of the minutes of the last regular and special meetings was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Keith.
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Burton, the City Manager was authorized to negotiate with the WPA in order to secure WPA labor for resurfacing and repairing certain streets in Dover.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report for the month of June was read by the Clerk and approved upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Hinkle.
POLICE REPORT
The report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s report for the months of May and June were read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Vane. A check amounting to $61.00 was turned over to the City Manager with the report of 11 arrests for May, and a check for $122.00 with a report of 9 arrests for June.
A PETITION
A petition was presented to Council and read by the City Clerk, signed by 36 property owners residing on or around Governors Avenue between State and Division Streets, requesting that the Council grant no permits for building service stations in that area. This petition was accepted and ordered filed.
AN ORDINANCE
An ordinance to regulate the parking of delivery trucks on Loockerman Street was read by the Clerk, and after some discussion, upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, Council agreed to table this ordinance at least for 30 days.
