SPECIAL MEETING
February 20th, 1939
A special meeting of the City Council was held on February 20th, 1939. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P. M. by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. Downes, Millman, Burton, Frear, Vane and Hinkle.
The meeting was called for the purpose of hearing any objections to an upholstering business on Fulton Street in a residential section. Mr. Bertrand Wyant appeared before Council protesting this business, stating that the building is too close to his home and is a detriment to the health of his family and his property.
Mr. O.C. Hayes appeared before Council speaking in favor of this business and stating that it would not become a nuisance to any of the surrounding property owners.
After some discussion, upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Downes, the Council voted to grant the permit to Mr. Hayes; providing, however, that he install water, electricity, proper toilets connected to the City sewers and repair the chimney on the building so that it would meet inspection of the Building Commission. The City Clerk was instructed to notify those concerned in writing.
Council adjourned at 8:10 P. M.
