REGULAR MEETING
June 13th, 1938
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dover was held on the 13th day of June, 1938. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodford and on roll call the following members answered present: Messrs. LeFevre, Keith, Burton, Frear and Hinkle.
MINUTES
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, the reading of the minutes of the last regular meeting was dispensed with.
CITY MANAGER’S REPORT
The City Manager’s report for the month of May was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Frear.
Upon motion of Messrs. Burton and Keith, the Council deferred action on laying a sewer on Lakewood Place until a later date.
Upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Hinkle, the City Solicitor was instructed to draw an ordinance prohibiting parking on Governors Avenue form North Street to the M. P. Church property, limiting parking in that area to two hours which corresponds to the present ordinance governing Loockerman Street parking, this ordinance to be presented at the next regular meeting of Council.
FINANCIAL REPORT
The financial report for the month of May was read by the Clerk and accepted and approved upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear.
ALDERMAN’S REPORT
The Alderman’s report for the month of May was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Keith and Frear. A check amounting to $131.00 was turned over to the City Manager with a reprot of 8 arrests.
POLICE REPORT
A report of the Chief of Police was read by the Clerk and accepted upon motion of Messrs. Hinkle and Burton.
COMMITTEES
Mr. Marvel Baxter appeared before Council asking that a catch basin be installed on American Avenue in order to drain the rain water from American Avenue and Smith Street. This matter was referred to the City Manager with instructions to make a report and recommendations at the next meeting.
A PETITION
A petition was presented to Council signed by sever property owners west of the railroad asking that Lincoln Street be extended in a westerly direction to intersect with Horsehead Road Extended; also, asking that the westerly part of Tar Ditch extending through this land be tiled or covered so that these propertyowners could open up a building development in this section. Mayor Woodford appointed a committee consisting of Messrs. Frear, Keith and Shank to investigate this proposition and report at a future meeting.
