Tanner Wm. Polce represents the 1st District. He was sworn into office on May 8th, 2017 and is believed to be the youngest person to have ever been elected to the City’s Council at 26 years old. Polce lives in the Community of Westfield.
Polce moved to Dover to attend Wesley College, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science, Cum Laude (2012) and a M.B.A (2014). At Wesley, he was an active part of campus life serving as a two-term President of the Student Government Association. Polce is also a member of the Sigma Beta Delta International Business Honor Society, Apha Chi National Honor Society and the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science Society. In 2012, Polce received the highest undergraduate achievement award, “The Faculty Convener” award. In 2014, Polce was selected as Wesley’s first Legislative Fellow with the Delaware State Senate Majority Caucus. This coveted fellowship is often regarded as the flagship experience for young leaders who wish to enter the world of politics, business and community engagement.
After his experience with the Senate Majority Caucus, Polce was hired on as Legislative Aide to Senators David Sokola and Bethany Hall-Long. Polce currently is the Policy Director for Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, and has been instrumental in numerous healthcare and education policy matters. Polce also holds an adjunct faculty role at Wesley College, teaching in both their Political Science and Business Departments as part of the Continuing Education Program for Air Force personnel.
In his spare time, Polce is an avid golfer. Polce also enjoys spending time with family and being active within his community.
